HORSES ON ROAD

Report by inspector WANDERING NEAR PAEROA RANGER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED “ Three horses have been wandering on the road between Paeroa and Karangahake and the ranger has been notified but it appears that these horses come from across the river and so on to the highway,” reported the traffic inspector, Mr D. T. Somerville, to the April meeting of the Ohinemuri County Council. Patrols had been made in the county daring the month, stated the report. “A number of warnings had been issued relative to the exceeding of the speed limit. Prosecutions will be taken in the future,” continued the report.

The report went on to state that notices had been issued in respect of certain traffic offences, one for failing to display a heavy traffic disc, one in respect of an unlicensed goods service and three for failing to carry a certificate of fitness for auxiliary operators.

During the month three licenses had been issued, one in respect of heavy * trade, one in respect of a motor cycle and one in respect of a private car.
