ANZAC DAY
SERVICE AT NGATEA QUESTION OF ORGANISATION A request that the council organise the Ansae Day service in Ngatea this year was made by the Ngatea subbranch of the Paeroa and Hauraki Returned Services Association in a letter to the April meeting of the Hauraki Plains County Council. It was the feeling of the annual meeting of the sub-branch that the service would be more representative of the people of the district if the council took the responsibility of organising same and of advertising it as a citizens’ service, stated the letter from the secretary of the sub-branch. The R-S.A. would hold its usual parade and would co-operate in every way possible to make the service worthy of the district and of the events which it commemorates. The chairman, Mr C. W. Parfitt, said it was a question the council should take up and it was decided to meet members of the R.S.A. to finalise the matter. The chairman and Crs. C. W. Schultz and H. Hayward were appointed a committee to handle the matter.
