BETTY SIMPSON HONOURED 140 GUESTS ENTERTAINED ■■ t Mr and Mrs A. J. T. Simpson entertained recently at their home in Whitianga, to celebrate the coming of age of their youngest daughter, Betty. For the occasion Betty wore an off-the-shoulder frock, in red tartan taffeta, with a ballerina skirt. Among the many lovely presents Betty received were a string of pearls from her parents, a gold wrist watch from “ the family,” a framed coloured picture of Whitianga, several sets of lingerie, cups and saucers and linen. The evening was spent in dancing and games and a really delightful supper was served. A case each of pineapples and bananas were sent from Suva by Miss Edith Simpson especially for the occasion. Mr F. Brophy, who was toastmaster, proposed “ The King ” and then the health of the guest of honour. In a happy little speech Betty thanked everyone for their gifts and good wishes. She also thanked her parents and those who had assisted with preparations for the evening. Mr Heald proposed the health of Mr and Mrs Simpson and Mr Simpson responded. Mr Bongard proposed the health of absent relations and then read a number of cables and telegrams.
