A very successful dance was held in Colville recently when the proceeds which amounted to £l6 were handed to the Colville branch of the Women’s Division towards its parcels to Britain fund. The function was organised by the settlers of Port Charles and> Waikawau.

A children’s Monte Carlo waltz was won by Alison Feek and Margaret Caldwell. A quartette of girls rendered some songs. The girls were Joy Turner, Margaret Caldwelk Yvonne Feek and Alison Feek and they sang “ Home on the Range ” and “You Are My Sunshine.” Mrs A. Evans accompanied them on the piano. A competition was won by Mrs C. Turner of Port Charles. Music for the dancing was supplied by Mrs E. M. Lucas and Pte. Lee Perfect. Extras were played by Mrs Evans and Mr Roy Martin. Mr A. Evans capably carried out the duties of M.C. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss Heather Kennedy and Mr Ray Orr. Mr Evans thanked everyone for their attendance and explained the object of the dance. The sum of £l6 was raised for parcels to Britain. Special thanks were made to Messrs Farmers’ Trading Company, E. Goodchild, James Turner, R. S. 'Goudie, A. E. Jeffcoat and J.
