MEETING IN COROMANDEL excellently attended The November meeting of the Coromandel Women’s Institute was held in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Coromandel and Miss Russell presided over an excellent attendance of members. The meeting opened with the institute prayer, after which the president’s monthly letter was read. A very warm welcome was extended to several visitors, all of whom were later accepted as members. The secretary read a very interesting report on the federation cquncil meeting held at Thames recently. The roll call, “ Clothing that embarrassed me when I was young,” was amusing. Miss Russell thanked the members who were responsible for the work done on the outfits. An invitation was received to attend a garden party at Waitakaruru, but owing to the distance that would have to be travelled the institute could not ,be present. It was decided to send a box of groceries for a competition for federation funds, and a collection of 30s was taken at the meetinig to buy the groceries. A discussion took place in connection with the children’s fancy dress dance to be held on December 18. Several members offered to billet members of a concert party to visit Coromandel towards the end of January. The nex meeting, the Christmas one, was arranged.
