SERIOUS SHORTAGE

RUBBERWARE AND CAUSTIC MINISTER OF SUPPLY REPLIES Attention was drawn by Mr A. S. Sutherland, M.P. for Hauraki in the House of Representatives recently, to the serious shortage of rubberware and caustic soda in the dairy industry, and he asked the Minister of Supply if he would take urgent steps to obtain increased supplies.

“ I understand that, far from there being a shortage, manufacturers ’have surplus supplies of milking inflations and tubes,” said the Minister, Mr Nordmeyer, in reply. “ Dairying cleansers and detergents are known to be in limited supply, and my department is doing everything in its power to ensure that the needs of the dairy industry are met. In addition to soda crystal supplies, caustic soda is being allocated for the needs of detergent makers to ensure, that priority is given to the dairy industry.”
