BRANCHES OVER ROADS

DAIRY COMPANY COMPLAINS TRUCKS NOT COVERED “ It has 'been brought to our notice by Mir Ganley, manager of Brenan and Company, Limited, cream cartage contractors, of Paeroa, that it is impossible for them to utilise covers on their trucks on Brown’s road (off Pukekauri road) and on Butler’s road at Waitawheta owing to branches of trees overhanging the roads,” wrote the 'New Zealand Dairy Company to the Ohinemuri County Council. The company stated that it was a condition of its cream contracts that adequate protection was given to the cream while it was in transit and the company therefore insisted that all cream lorries were provided with a cover. The company asked the council to investigate the position of the roads referred to.

The county engineer, Mr. L. E. Shaw, stated that much .of the trouble that was mentioned in the letter had been attended to. It was decided by the board that any trees that had not been cut back should be attended to in the near future.
