FINES IMPOSED
TRAFFIC OFFENCES (SPEED LIMIT EXCEEDED regulations, laid down by the TransFive charges of breaches of traffic port Department, were heard before Mr W. H. Freeman, S.M., in the Thames Magistrate’s Court. Traffic Inspector G. A. R. Ferguson prosecuted. Charged with driving a passenger bus at a speed exceeding the limit of 35 miles per hour, Herbert Stanley Pilkington, bus driver employed by Transport, Limited, of Paeroa, pleaded guilty. Defendant said he had been delayed in leaving Paeroa, and had had to make a number of stops. He had hoped to make up time to arrive on schedule. He had been driving for eight years and had never received any complaints. He was fined £2710/and costs. Eor exceeding the heavy motor vehicle speed limit, Arnold Arthur Lynne, of Coromandel,- was fined £7/10/-. Defendant’s speed in Queen Street, Thames, had been 39 miles per hour, said Traffic Inspector Ferguson. He had been convicted and fined at Paeroa recently for a similar offence. For exceeding the maximum speed limit for a heavy motor vehicle, Kenneth iGreen, of Turua, was fined £2 and costs.
Pleading guilty to charges of having no warrant of fitness and no heavy traffic license, Henry Hicks, of Turua, was fined 107- and costs on the first charge of £1 and costs on the second. A charge of driving without due care was preferred l against Antony Joseph Radich, of Turua, who pleaded guilty. ! A fine of £2 and costs was imposed.
