R.S.A. MEETS

PAEROA-HAURAKI ASSN. ELECTION OF OFFICERS MR J. WALMSLEY HONOURED Th annual meeting of the PaeroaHauraki Returned Services Association was held in the Civic Hall, Paeroa, the president, Mt Edwin Edwards, presiding over a fair attendance of members.

The president referred to members who had died since the last meeting, Messrs' C. S. Appleby, L. Rountree, T. S. Short and l R. H. Catton, the meeting standing in silence as a mark of respect and sympathy. The election of officers resulted: — Patron: Mr J. H. Walmsley; president: Mr EJ. Edwards; senior vice president: Mr Edgar Harris; district vice president: Messrs Neville Hedges (iWaitakaruru-iPipiroa), P. G. Pearce (IKerepeehi-Nether.ton), S. H. Anderson (Kaihere-iPatetonga), W. T. Crosbie (Karangahake-Tirohia), S. J. Hedge (Paeroa), honorary, treasurer: Mr D. Vincent; honorary auditor: Mr A. G. Parsons; delegates to conference: E. Edwards and> I. A. McGregor with J. M. Craig (associate delegate). Committee: Messrs R. S. Nicol, F. T. Gregson, Len. McDonald, W. D. Sanderson, G. Knap, I. A. McGregor, S. Tidswell, Geo. Masters, T. Fulton, R. Sinclair, V. Moloney, J. H. Bartlett. The president spoke of Mr Walmsley’s many years of loyal service to the association and N.Z.R.S.A. affairs generally. He moved that he be elected a life honorary member and this was carried.

After discussion opened by Mr V. Moloney, Mr R. Sinclair moved that a representative from the association wait upon the public meeting which would probably be held to discuss a war memorial, and advocate that this be in form of suitable club rooms for returned ex servicemen and women. Seconded by Mr T. Fulton and carried.
