EASTER SUNDAY NIGHT

COROMANDEL FIXTURE VISIT FROM PAEROA BAND The Caledonian Hall at Coromandel was well filled on Easter Sunday night when a concert under the auspices of the Catholic Church was held. All the items were of a high standard, and' were well received by the audience.

The Paeroa Municipal ’Band, with Bandmaster E. Beilby in charge gave a splendid variety of selections all of_ which were a pleasure to hear. Lovers of band music were well satisfied with the quality of the music, but not with the quantity. Visiting artists greatly assisted in the programme, and were warmly, applauded.

The soprano and contralto solos were all well known and' very much enjoyed and were a musical treat of no mean order. Irish dances, hornpipes, jigs and reel were very popular items on the programme and were of a very high standard. They were accompanied by Mrs W'hitty, accordion; Miss G. W'hitty, violin; and Miss Hillis, piano.

A piano recital evoked considerable applause, and was brilliantly played. A piano duet was also a very popular item on the programme. Maori songs in harmony were beautifully sung and were very warmly applauded. Altogether the programme was a musical treat—giving a wide variety of musical items to suit all tastes. The items ■were all very well executed, and the audience spent a very enjoyable evening.

Father Fahy wanked the patrons for their attendance in such large numbers and also paid a tribute to the visiting artists who had travelled long distances to be present at this function. Thanks were also expressed to the local artists who had assisted in making the concert such a success The programme was a follows:—
