HEALTHY POSITION
HAURAKI UNITED BOARD STATE OF THE FINANCES £5,745 RATES COLLECTED Rates totalling £5,745/14/1 were collected during the year ended March 31, 1946, reported the clerk, Mr F. S. R. Kent, to the April meeting of the Hauraki United Drainage Board. The total rates struck were £5,514/10/10 while arrears at the beginning of the year totalled £738/8/5. The arrears had been reduced to £435/3/2 at March 31, 1946. The public debt now totalled
£22,332/1/1 stated the report. The board has commenced the year with a credit balance of £1,420/13/10 and has ended the year with a credi + of £2,138/«/0. The chairman, Mr C. K. Fox, congratulated the clerk on the able way in which he had presented the acounts. He was pleased to see the manner in which the financial position of the board had improved until today there was a healthy credit balance. Interest on overdraft had been saved and it was to be hoped that the board could maintain this position.
