A parade formed up in the Ngatea District High School Grounds and led by the Thames Salvation- Army Band and followed by servicemen of both the first and second World Wars, St. John Ambulance Brigade, and Boy Scouts, marched to the Ngatea Hall where the service was held. Addresses were delivered by MT C. W. Parfitt, chairman of the Hauraki Plains County Council, and the Rev. G. W. Cramond, of the Methodist
Church. A lesson was read by Mr RSawyer of the Salvation Army who also offered the prayer. A number of beautiful wreaths were placed by various organisations and these were later taken to the soldiers’ cemetery at Thames.
