ANNUAL MEETING AT NGATEA AIDIDRE'SS BY MR SUTHERLAND The annual meeting of the Ngatea branch of the N.Z. National Party was held in the Ngatea Hall, the chair being taken by Mr F. E. Hammond, of Ngatea, and the speaker of the evening being the member for Hauraki, Mr A. S. Sutherland. Mr Hammond was re-elected chairman and the appointment of a secretary was left to an incoming committee. A representative committee was formed, coneisting of the following:—iMesdiames W. Wallis, A. G. Davies, Messrs W. Jonas, T. Birkenhead, J. M'ason, T. W. Elliot, A. R. Vowles, F. L. Wallis, S. V. Barriball, D. H. Dalgety and R. B Tye. Delegates to the selection committee are Mesdames F. E. Hammond and W. Wallis, Messis Hammond, C. W. .Parfitt, E. Jones, T. W. Elliot, J. Motion, W. Jones, J. Darlington and A. R. Vowles. Mr Sutherland, who was introduced by the chairman, spoke on the changes in the new electorate. He then gave the audience a review of the work in the past year, mentioning a variety of bills which had been passed by the Government in spite of the efforts of the Opposition. One Bill of interest in these days was the Atomic Ehergy Bill, which stated, that any uranium fo&nd on a property became the property of the Government without redress- to the finder. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks' by acclamation.
