ODDFELLOWS MEET

LOYAL tfAURAKI LODGE FOUR NEW CANDIDATES The fortnightly meeting of the Hauraki Lodge was held in the lodge room, Coromandel, on Monday, September 10, the N.G., Sister C. Anderson, presiding. Owing to the very rough night the attendance was not up to the usual number and several apologies for absence were received. The N.G. extended a hearty welcome to Bro. Ken. McNeil, who hadi just returned from overseas, and' the honours of the order were conferred on him.

In replying, Bro. McNeil said it was a great pleasure to be back at lodge again, and thanked the members for their welcome. Sometimes he said, he used to think he would never get hack, but he hoped to be alble to spend many more of the pleasant- evenings in the future as he had! done in the past. A report from the social committee revealed that arrangements for the 50th. anniversary of the lodge were well in train, and advice from Auckland .had been received that 60 or 70 would be making the trip from Auckland as well as several carloads. The sick visitors’ reports proved satisfactory. Four new candidates were proposed for membership of the order. After the lodge prayer was read the meeting closed, and a happy hour spent round the supper table, after which dancing and games concluded the evening.
