PAEROA INSTITUTE MEETS RESULTS OF THE COMPETITIONS . The Paeroa Women’s Institute’s September meeting was held in the Presbyterian Hall. Mrs E. M. Hill presided', and gave the motto, “Think of ease, ibut work on.” (Discussing the Leper Appeal, it was decided to forward a donation as in previous years. The monthly reports were read, members 1 of the garden club to meet at the home of Mrs W. J. Pteploe. A very enjoyable social hour was spent, Mrs M. A. Gleadow giving two humorous recitations and Mrs A. Gunn reading the first of a series- on “The Pioneers of New Zealand.” -Birthday floral sprays were presented to M-esdames M. Pryor and D. E. Curran. The word guessing competition was won by Mrs P. George and the wandering shilling went to Mrs A. Gunn. The monthly competitions were judged by Mirs S. Wheeler and resulted as under:—Cornish- pastie, Mrs E. Marsh; man’s scarf-, Mrs E. Marsh; best -bloom, Miss 'B-. Smith. ! G!arden club.—Jar of bulb flowers: Mrs E. Marsh. Silver beet: Mrs E. Marsh. (Special competition.—Child’s frock made from adult’s: Mrs M. J. Morrison.
