LARGE MEETING IN PAEROA VALUE' OF THE PROPOSAL Over 100 women assembled in the Paeroa Presbyterian Church Hall on Friday afternoon when Drs. S'. L. Haslett and F. L. Clark and Mrs S. Wheeler and Miss W. Moore addressed them on the proposal to found a chair of Obstetrics and 'Gynaecology in New Zealand, located at Aucßand Hospital. The Mayoress, iMr Edwin Edwards, presided. The speakers emphasised the need for more intensive research and study in matters relating to maternity. They pointed out that the proposal was backed by influential people and the appeal for fund's which was being launched was not merely for Auckland but would be Dominion-wide. Women, it was stressed, should be right behind the movement. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the speakers.

Clark presided over a fair attendance in the Coronation Chambers when a meeting was held t'o discuss- ways and means of raising funds for the endowment of the chaii’ of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Auckland Hospital. Mr C. N. O’Neill explained' the importance of raising money for such an excellent cause and stressed tlie' need for personal contact with every person in Paeroa and the surrounding districts. It was decided to make a house-to-house canvass with the hope that a large sum be raised 1 . Arrangements were finalised to make an early collection.
