WOMEN’S DIVISION

MEETING HELD AT COLVILLE QUESTION OF GUMBOOTS Mrs Forman presided at the Novem- . ber meeting of the Colville Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union and made two requests' to the members, the first that garments and materials suitable for the Lady Galway -Guild be gathered monthly, tjie other for a trading table to assist provincial ’ funds. Members readily agreed and offered one garment each per month for the former and a big effort for the January trading table for the latter. iSeveral letters were read from overseas in thanks for soldiers’ parcels and a donation of -SI from the Coromandel WJDjF.U. was a very pleasant sur-

prise. This donation was to aid the last patriotic effort which netted the sum of .fii# 'los. Knowing that pounds’ worth, of gumboots’ are being kept “frozen” in factories while many farmworkers ate compelled to do without, it was decided to forward a remit to provincial, requesting an inquiry into the position. The children’s Christmas tree evening ’will be held as usual and is to take place later in (December. The purchasing of toys, decorations and .presents is to be left in the capable hands of Mesdames N. Ward and W. Evans. Santa Claus,, who will make his debut at & p.m. is to remain a mystery man until after the distribution of the toys, Mrs E. Jeffcoat won the “penny” competition. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Stock and Reddy.
