COROGLEN WELCOME
TWO SOLDIERS HONOURED PRESENTATION OF CHEQUES The Coroglen Hall was crowded at a function held to welcome home Sgt.-Major Jack Hamilton and Pte. Frank Marshall (Whenuakite). Tairua and Whitianga were well represented. The music was supplied by Mrs Rose on her piano accordion. Monte Carlos were won by Mr J. O’lSullivan and Mrs M. 'Niccol and two little girls, Jean McKay and partner. The popular soldiers were heartily cheered as they took their places on the stage. On behalf of the residents, Mr James Hamilton, chairman of the Whenuakite Patriotic Committee welcomed the soldiers and presented each with a cheque. Mr M. Minifie spoke on 'behalf of the Coroglen residents. Each soldier suitably replied and thanked one and all. A lovely supper was served by the ladies’ committee. The function closed with the National Anthem.
