Mr Max Roland was the guest of Mr and Mrs Gordon Ross at Whitianga recently. While in the Bay he visited the school and played' several items on his violin for the scholars. He also spoke to them of his studies while in Vienna and of the different customs there. Lieut.-'Col. Jack Conolly, D. 5.0., and his wife spent a holiday at Whitianga and stayed at the hotel. Mr Ross, organiser of the National Party has .been visiting Mercury Bay. Lieut. J. D. Surman and Mrs Surman, are guests at the Whitianga Hotel. Lieut. .Surman is on furlough from the Pacific. He was postmaster at Whitianga some years ago. Pte. Godfrey Crisp has been visiting his mother at Whitianga. He is on furlough from the Pacific. Pte. Rob. Sewell has returned to Whitianga from duties in the Pacific and is on furlough. Spr. R, Wood, of Mercury Bay was in one of the latest draughts which arrived hack in New Zealand from the Pacific. Mr and Mrs R. Wood, of Mercury Bay, are visiting Mrs Wood Snr., of Whangarei. Mrs Snow, of Mercury Island, has returned’ from a visit to Auckland. Cpl. A. Bowman, is visiting Whitianga and staying with his* parents. He recently returned from duties in the Pacific. Mr and Mrs R. 'Dale have returned to Whitianga from a few weeks’ holiday. Mrs EX Niccol, of Mangere, is the guest of Miss P. Hamilton, Whitianga.
