CRICKET AT WHENUAKITE TAIRUA-HIKUAI WIN EASILY A return cricket match was played at Whenuakite recently between the combined teams, Tairua and -Hikuai versus Hahei and Whenuakite. The former team won the toss and batted first. The team wasi dismissed for 28 runs after 13 hours’ 'batting. Accurate bowling by K. Hamilton and R. Wigmore combined with a fast pitch, (kept the runs at a minimum. The opposing team’s score was 45 runs. Over the second Tairua and Hikuai scored a total of 30' runs. This time the opposing team 'passed their score with two wickets down and four men retired. The visitors lacked -the aggressive spirit when they scored an easy win a fortnight ago.
