LADY GALWAY GUILD

MEETING IN COROMANDEL OFFICERS FOR YEAR ELECTED The Coromandel Lady Galwhy 'Guild held its annual meeting in Mr Rowse’s rooms on Wednesday, April 26. Miss Mitchell presided. The activities for the past year were discussed and it was intimated that 109 articles' of clothing’ and seven quilts had gone forward to be sent overseas. One balaclava and one seaman’s pullover had been spun and knitted and forwarded to the 'Navy League, two sea-'boot stockings l and two flying-boot stockings had also been spun and knitted and forwarded to boys overseas. A resolution was passed thanking all those people who gave so generously in many different ways thus enabling the guild to carry on its work and make it the success it was. The election of officers resulted in Miss Mitchell being re-elected chairman and Mrs 'Murphy re-elected secretary. ’ A hearty vote of thanks was accorded these two ladies for their work for the past year. It was decided to form a working committee of all those ladies attending the meeting as follows:—Mesdames C. H. McKenzie, H. Denize, E. Deeble, D. A. Inglis, A. Lincoln, V. Jones and Miss Russell. Following the annual meeting the committee held an ordinary meeting, Miss Mitchell presiding. A very generous offer to supply the • guild with a pair of carders was made by Miss Mitchell. It was decided to start activities 1 on Wednesday, May 3, 1944, and should there be anyone interested in this work they are cordially invited, to attend the sewing bees held at the patriotic shop. A hearty vote of thanks to Mr Rowse for the use of his rooms and to the chair concluded the meeting.
