WHITIANGA WEDDING

McLEOD—GORDON

WELL-KNOWN FAMILIES UNITE

The return from England of FlightSergeant N. Gordon, of Coroglen, made possible a very pretty wedding at the Whitianga church when FlightSergeant Gordon, who is the only son of Mr and Mrs J. Gordon, of Coroglen, was married to Lily, sixth daughter of Mr and Mrs A. McLeod, of Whitianga, thus uniting two very well-known families in the Mercury Bay district. The ceremony was conducted by the Rev. Moore, of Coromandel, on the evening of January 5, at 6 p.m.

The bride looked very sweet in a light cinnamon crepe moracain

frock and halo hat trimmed with white gardenias and veil. She was attended by her sister, Constance, as bridesmaid, who wore a frock of .petrel blue with hat to tone. The groom was attended by Mr Murdoch McKay as best man. Aftei’ the ceremony a number of guests were received by Mrs A. McLeod who looked very smart in a tailored striped costume. A buffet breakfast was provided at. the McLeod homestead.

The Rev. Moore said grace and afterwards proposed the toast of the King. Numerous other toasts were honoured.

The young couple left the following morning for a short honeymoon prior to Flight-Sergeant Gordon being called back to duty. Music at the ceremony and a weding march after were played by Mr F. H.. Broad.
