FARMERS FIRST

ALL GUM BOOTS IN COUNTRY DECISION BY THE UNION Any gumboots coming into the country should first be allocated to the dairy farmers, their wives and employees, was a remit moved by Mr L. E. Tye at Tuesday’s meeting of the Northern Thames Sub-Provincial Executive of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union at Paeroa. He pointed out that gum boots were more urgently needed by farmers than by commercial travellers who called on the farms. This was seconded by Mr H. R. Baker (Turua), who emphasised the need of women on the farm to have dry feet. The remit was carried unanimously.
