BICYCLE PRIORITY LIST COMMITTEE MEETS EARLY APPLICATION URGED The Paeroa Bicycle Tyre and Tube Control Committee met for the first time recently when preliminary business in connection with the issuing of tyres and tubes was dealt with. The committee comprises Messrs A. E. bay (schools), F. J. Johnston (cycle dealers’ representative), A. A. Jenkinson (consumers). An order of priority had been issued- by the Department •of Industries and Commerce. First on the list were members of the Armed Forces and workers in urgent defence work. After this class, in order of priority came:— Workers in essential production and essential distribution, provided that approval is not given to the

distribution of commodities to the ultimate consumer for personal, family or household use, with the exception of milk. Workers engaged in vital services of Government and local ibody administration, including the maintenance of law and order. Workers engaged in the distribution of newspapers. Workers engaged in health and educational services, school children, and persons suffering from .physical disability. Workers engaged in industry not covered above. Workers engaged in business not covered above. The necessity for all those who required tyres to make their applications as soon as possible, was urged by Mr Day, who said work could not be proceeded with until applications were received. Applications were to be made to cycle dealers and no witness was necessary to the signing of the form, according to the latest instructions received,,, although it was stated on the form that the signature of a police officer was required.
