SOLDIERS FROM NEW ZEALAND PAEROA BOY KILLED IN ACTION The following casualty list containing the names of men from Paeroa and the Hauraki Plains has been issued by the New Zealand Expeditionary Force:— Killed In Action LANFEAR, H. C.—Mrs V. C. Lanfear, Paeroa (mother). CORPORAL W. M. SCOTT DIED OF WOUNDS

Another casualty with local significance announced over the weekend was that of Corporal William Menzies Scott, aged 24, who died of wounds received in action overseas.

Corporal Scott was half-'brother to Miss N. and Mr E. 'Scott, of Pipiroa, Hauraki Plains.

PRIVATE H. C. LANFEAR

REPORTED KILLED IN ACTION Private Henry Charles Lanfear, who is reported as killed in action, is the second son of Mr and Mrs G. F. Lanfear, of Paeroa. Born in Paeroa 25 years ago, Private Lanfear attended the Paeroa District High School. Prior to the war he was employed at the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company’s factory at Ngatea and was perhaps better known on the Plains than in Paeroa. He enlisted for service and eventually was released from the factory. While waiting to be called -up Private Lanfear took work at a coal mine near Huntly, where he was badly crushed and when he sailed for overseas service was still under the doctor and was accordingly attached to headquarters until after his brother was reported as presumed killed in action during the campaign in Crete.

Private Lanfear then transferred to a fighting unit and saw action in the last Lybian campaign. While in Syria he was selected to train in the ski troops.

REPORTED MISSING SERGEANT H. L. GREEN Advice has been received by Mr J. E. Green, of Turua, that his son, Sergeant H. L. Green, Royal Ail Force, has been reported missing on air operations. After training in this country, Sergeant Green spent some months in Canada. He has since been stationed in the United Kingdom.
