PRESENTATION MADE

LIEUT. P. WILLIAMS HONOURED

SERVICE TO THE HOME GUARD

In appreciation of his valued service to the Paeroa Company of the Home Guard and No. 1 Platoon in particular, some 40 Paeroa Home Guardsmen assembled after the parade on Tuesday evening to make a presentation to Lieut. P. Williams who will shortly be entering camp. Among those present were Major J. H. Bartlett, Lieut. C. N. O’Neill, E. Westlake, A. Clark and J. Sullivan. In making the presentation of a useful shaving outfit >Sgt. W. F. F. Faber as senior N.C.O. of No. 1 Platoon, said that Mr Williams had given a great deal of time to the Home Guard, being one of the first to enrol in Paeroa and was now one of the best officers they had( He said Mr Williams possessed those qualities that go to make a leader of men and the men of No. 1 Platoon would go anywhere ordered by him, knowing that he would not ask men under him to do what he himself would not do.

By his determination and thoroughness Mr Williams had, represented Auckland in rowing and rugby and with this record he should gain rapid promotion in the Army. * In conclusion Sgt. Faber extended on behalf of the men assembled wishes for the best of good luck in the future.
