VICHY CONDEMNED AIM OF FIGHTING FRANCE DEFENCE OF CIVILISATION “Germany has not changed. To-day, as yesterday, she dreams of making slaves of all of us—slaves without any hope of freedom,” declared M. de la Tribouille, political adviser to the High Commissioner for Fighting France in the Pacific, at a reception given him by the Wellington R.S.A. recently. ■> Other guests were Commandant Cabanier, D. 5.0., Ensign Delauche and M. Arnaud. These adherents of Fighting France were given a warm welcome by the president, Colonel C. H. Weston, and members. M- de la Tribouille and M..Arnaud were in the French Army’ in the Great War, and Commandant Cabanier won the D.S.O. in the present war for his achievements in the French submarine Rubis in the Battle of Norway and the North iSea.
M. de la Tribouille said that the aim of Fighting France was the same as that desired by the soldiers of the war of 25 years ago, namely, a more human world, a world more fraternal, where the strong would no longer oppress the weak, a world more inspired by the ideal of justice and liberty, a world at . last freed from .-the powers of war and of death. Fighting France refused to submit to the shameful capitulation signed by the illegal Government of Vichy. True, France had not changed and would never change, because she was incapable of failing in her ideals. Commandant Cabanier spoke of aims and objects of the Fighting French Movement. Fighting France was striving for the defence of Christian civilisation, “and that is why in the air, on. the land, and on the sea you will find French still fighting. From her distress France has already risen, for force cannot prevail against the spirit.”
