TWO MONTHS’ IMPRISONMENT

.For failing to report when called by the Army for medical examination, John Mangan Cowrie, described as a labourer, formerly of Thames, was sentenced in the Paeroa Court by Mr W. H. Freeman on Monday, to two months’ imprisonment. Cowrie did not appear.

Sergeant J. P. Sinnett of the Army Office, Paeroa, stated that Cowrie, had not registered in the First Division of the General Reserve and was called later in a special ballot. Cowrie was ordered to report at Thames for medical examination but did not appear. He was then called to report at Paeroa for medical examination on May 6 but again did not appear. The ca'se was then handed over to the police for action. Cowrie had not notified either the Army or the National Service Department of his change of. address although he was not living in Auckland.

Cowrie was sentenced to two months’ imprisonment.
