THE THAMES ELECTORATE ANNUAL MEETING HELD OFFICERS FOR YEAR ELECTED The annual meeting of members of the National Party for the Thames electorate was held at Thames on Saturday evening, Mr W. F. Johnstone presiding. There was a large attendance of representatives from all parts of the electorate. The chairman’s report showed that while little’political activity had, been indulged in during the past 12 months all branches had been actively engaged in war work. The secretary’s report and balancesheet disclosed that much work had been accomplished.

After some discussion, the reports were adopted.' Election Of Officials

The election of officers of the ensuing year resulted as follows: Chairman, Mr W. F. Johnstone; executive committee, chairmen of branches at Te Aroha, Waihi, Paeroa, Hikutaia, Thames and Mr D. G. McMillan. Invitations are to 'be extended to the chairmen of all other branches to attend the meetings of the. executive whenever they could find it convenient to do so. 'Delegates to the South Auckland Division, Mrs Shaw, Messrs W. C. Kennedy, W. F. Johnstone and W. A. Clark. Delegates to the annual conference, Mrs Shaw, Messrs G/ Rouse, C. Jackson and W. F. Johnstone. Thanks To Secretary Having resigned his position of .secretary, the meeting passed a vote of thanks to Mr K, McKinnon for services rendered to the party. Mr G. Rouse was appointed secretary. The member for Waitomo, Mr W. J. Broadfoot, gave a short address, in which he referred to many Acts of Parliament recently passed and. how they would affect many people. He also gave details of the financial statement issued on Thursday last by the Prime Minister.

At the conclusion of his address, Mr Broadfoot was accorded a vote of thanks.
