TO STAND AGAIN

MR JAMES THORN AS M.P.

SUPPORT FROM TE AROHA

CONFIDENCE IN LABOUR PARTY

An intimation that he was prepared to stand again in the interests of the Labour Party for the Thames electorate, was made by Mr James Thorn, M.P., at a meeting of Labour Party supporters in Te Aroha on Thursday night. There were about sixty members present at the meeting, and after many questions had been asked and answered by Mr Thorn, the following resolution was carried unanimously: “ That this meeting of the Labour Party members in Te Aroha expresses its strong confidence | in the present Labour Government under the leadership of the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser, thanks Mr James Thorn, M.P., for his untiring work in the Thames constituency, and expresses confidence in him as the Labour Party candidate at the next general elections.” . Mr Thorn has had a wide political experience, as well as being the Government’s representative at the League of Nations Conference held in Geneva in 1936. He became Te Aroha’s member of Parliament at the last general elections when the boundaries of the electorate were changed, bringing this town into the Thames district.
