For operating a motor car along the main highway near Paeroa on December 16 without displaying the lights required by the traffic regulations and for driving a motor car without being the holder of a motor driver’s licence Jim Moody was convicted and fined. 10s court costs 12s and 10s, court costs 10s respectively, by Mr W. H. Freeman, S.M., in the Paeroa Court on Monday.

Inspector D. E. Morrow who prosecuted stated that he had seen accused leaving Paeroa travelling towards Netherton was only one light burning. An examination had disclosed the wiring in the car to be in a bad state.

Magistrate: What about his certificate of fitness ?

Magistrate: There will be serious consequences over these certificates one of these days.

“ It is a wonder to me how they issued a warrant of fitness if the wiring was all gone,” he added.
