SINGER AT PAEROA

DANNY MALONE’S CONCERT OLD IRISH HITS APPRECIATED There was a. good audience at the Regent Theatre, Paeroa, last evening when Mr Danny Malone, the well, known singer of Irish songs, appeared. Owing to illness other members of the party could not perform. Mr Malone has the lilt and sweetness of “Ould Ireland” in his voice, and his singing of such numbers as “The Rose of Tralee,” “Believe Me If All Those Endearing Young Charms,” “The Snowy-breasted Pearl,” “Mother Machree,” “Macushla,” “Did Your Mother Come From Ireland” (what Irish singer’s programme would be complete without that!), and similar songs delighted the audience. If there was any disappointment it was that Mr Malone limited his contributions to Irish songs; one would have liked to hear him in other items.

Mr Jack Cheyne did some • clever chalk drawings and created amusement with his ve'ntroliquism. Mr Len Lehmann was at the: piano.

During the evening Messrs L. and G. Vercoe of Paeroa played several saxophone solos and duets which were accorded generous applause.
