REMARK EXPLAINED
VALLEY POWER BOARD MEMBER Explanation of a statement he had made at the last meeting of the Thames Valley Electric Power Board was made by Mr F. E. Flatt yesterday. The remark he had passed, during a discussion on the status of the Thames and Te Aroha boroughs, was, inter alia: “...what they (the boroughs) did with their profits—and it was questionable where some of the money had gone, particularly in Thames—that those bodies should try to accept one member.” It looked as if he had said the money had been spent in a questionable manner, Mr Flatt explained, but he had not meant it in that way. As far as he was concerned the boroughs could spend their electricity profits where they liked.
