AROUND THE ROADS.

PAEROA BOROUGH. WORKS COMMITTEE REPORT. Maintenance work has been attended to as usual during the past month, stated the Paeroa Borough Council’s Works Committee to this month’s meeting of the Council. A small amount of repairs have been carried out on Seymour, Princes and Cassrels Streets and wharf approach road. Albert Street has been finished in two coat bitumen sealing and a good job made; also 6 chains of Bradley Street has been resurfaced. Considerable settlement has taken place in Rye Lane and this had caused a bad jolt at the approaches on both sides. This has been picked up and resealed. Repairs have also been effected and a re-seal coat applied to the whole length previously sealed. Footpaths have received some attention in Bradley ‘Street, Albert Street, Rye Lane, 'Prospect Terrace, Miller Avenue, Kennedy Street, Frazer Street, and top end of Normanby Road. A commencement has been made cutting grass on footpaths, etc., with a one horse mower and it is hoped that this will enable an improvement to be made in this direction. A considerable amount of work has been carried o.ut in the quarry and approximately 100 yards of metal has been hand broken.

Good progress has been made with the cleaning of the outfall drain; the work being much heavier than in recent years, owing to the dry season causing greater growth of vegetation.
