GOLDEN DAWN. The alterations and additions to the company’s battery at Owharoa are expected to be completed by the first week in December. Tn the meantime, ore is being broken out from both Nos. 1 and 3 reefs ready for treatment. It is proposed by the directors to utilise the period up to the Christmas vacation for the purpose of “running in” the plant and making any adjustments that may be necessary, with a view to starting crushing in earnest immediately after the New Year. The ore being broken out of the stopes is being assayed regularly, and indicated very satisfactory values. A cross-cut is being driven from No. 1 Reef at No. 2 level to intersect No. 3 reef south of present operations. It is expected to cut this in from 40 to 60 feet of driving No development work has yet been started to ascertain the extent of the cinnabar deposit. This cannot be taken in hand until the present stop- ; ng operations extend to the locality. Mine Report. The following is the mine report for two weeks ending 7th November, 1931:— “Stopes on No. 1 reef above No. 3 level: Foui’ machines have been working breaking ore and also breaking filling for the stopes. These stopes are now in fair working order. “The reef here averages 2 feet wide, and the ore by assay is of a very fair value. In the north end of this block in shooting off the hanging wall for filling, we cut another reef running along the wall 18 inches wide, and the ore looks to be of very fair value. A'ssay has befen- taken to prove its value. This block of slopes looks very promising at present. “In the stopes on No. 3 reef above No. 3 level two machines have been at work breaking ore, and also breaking filling. The reef here averages 3 feet wide, and looks very well, and by assay the ore broken is of very fair value. This block of stopes is getting in fair working order. Men have been employed repairing lines "nsses and levels. “A siart will be made next week to •hive a cross-cut af No. 2 level from No. 1 reef to cut the No. 3 reef, which has not been cut at this level. A distance of from 50 to 60 feet should cut the reef which in the stopes below carries very good oie.
