A bread war is raging in Whangarei. A short time ago one firm reduced its price for a 21b loaf to sd, or 5Jd delivered, and consequently other firms had to do likewise. Now one store is selling a 21b loaf for 4Jd arid a 41b loaf for 9d. This is in contrast to the old price of 7d for a 21b loaf or 7id delivered. It is understood that various legal representatives and others of wheat concerns have been in Whangarei investigating the position. In the meantime, the public are benefiting by the cheap prices.
