SOCIAL EVENING.
FUNCTION AT WAITAKARURU. After a residence of about nine years in Waitakaruru, during which he was a prominent member of the local cricket club, Mr A. McPherson and his wife wei’e on Tuesday evening last farewelled by members of the Waitakaruru Cricket Club. The function took place at Mr H. L. Berney’s residence, and was in the form of a social evening. A 500 tournament was won by Mrs Paton and Mr Hedges, while a Competition, guessing the names of prominent cricketers, was won by Mrs Poland. Mr N. W. Hedges, on behalf of the Cricket Club and friends of Mr McPherson, presented him with a salad bowl. Mr McPherson replied suitably. Mr and Mrs McPherson are leaving shortly for Mangere, where they are taking up property.
