VALEDICTORY.

FUNCTION AT TURUA. A very pleasant time was spent last Friday morning' at the residence of Mrs J. H. Johnston, of Tuma, when many friends gathered to , bid farewell to Nurse Goldstone, • the Plunket Nurse, who is leaving the district. The drawing room looked charming, being decorated with large chrysanthemums. In the unavoidable absence of the President (Mrs P. R. Henry), Mrs Harvey, secretary of the < society, made a small presentation on behalf of the committee, thanking Nurse Goldstone for her good work in the district, and wishing her success and happiness in her future activities. Nurse Goldstone suitably responded. Nurse Sloss, the new nurse, was then welcomed. Nurse Goldstone has had a very busy time in the district, and reports show that attendances to rooms and visits to homes for last year totalled approximately 658. During April the first month of the current year, the nurse has given approximately 80 attendances, which is sufficient indication that the activities of the Turuh branch are rapidly expanding.
