Kumarn Women’s Institute hold their birthday party on Tuesday, when members and friends spent a most enjoyable evening. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdnines Thorn, Fahey, Wise, Pierson and Rooney. Songs were given by Mrs McNabb and competitions were won by Miss C. Wallace, Miss A. McLaughlin, and Mesdames Hunter, McNabb and Chant. A statue barn dance was won by Mesdames Lakin and Haines, and a peanut dance by Misses Thwaites and Gilbert. After supper, the candles on the cake were lit by Mrs Anderson, the oldest member. and were “blown out” by Miss Aileen McLaughlin, the youngest member. The President, Mrs Reedy, then cut the cake. Mrs Lalor, on behalf of the Institute, spoke of the good work done by Mrs Reedy as President for a number of years, and presented her with a bouquet as a token of appreciation and esteem.
