giving the Dominions more intimate contact with the United States on ail matters of trade and vital interests. This is both a concession to and recognition of, the importance of the growing Dominions, and as representatives are being sent to New York, the increase in trading relations will become more valuable. For New Zealand, the most notable mark of the improving relations, is the link across the Pacific by the American Clipper service, now making regular trips to and from America. This service promises to be well established this season. Many representative Americans arc tiavailing, spying out tne land. Already in Australia American houses have for some time important branches, and the trading intercourse between 'lie two countries is considerable. New Zealand has come into the orbit of like attentions, and the many important visitors, not overlooking the pressmen, are carrying away with them favourable impressions. New Zealand, as a. glance at the map will show, is an outpost of the Pacific, hut the visitors are finding it a country of interest, and worthy attention. This air service should prove a great aid to tourist traffic, supplying a speedy and safe means of transport, being at once a time-saver, as well as covering new and interesting pictures of the outside world. Referring to the map again, the route from San Francisco to Hawaii, thence to the mid-Pacifio Islands, and on to New Caledonia at Noumea, is a fairly direct line. From Noumea the passengers may continue the short hop to Auckland, or travel by comfortable yacht to Brisbane, and again take the air to the centres of Australia. This convenient form of transit should develop into a special aid to colonial advancement.
