Air Percy W. Day, manager of the South African Football team, accompanied by W. E. Bastard, one of the forwards, flew from Christchurch today, and .conferred with the executive of the New Zealand Rugby. Union upon matters concerning the tour.

Air Day said that .the Springboks had been treated most hospitably in the South Island. They had thoroughly enjoyed the games played there.

The members of the team were all fit and well, with the exception of G. van Reenen. who had mid hones of his hand broken in the match against Otago at Dunedin on Saturday. He would probably take no further part in he tour.

Air Day, who is secretary, of the South Africa Turf Club, said he would have to leave New Zealand by the. Aorangi on September 21 j to join the Thomistocles for Capo Town,, in order to return ill time for .the South African Turf Club’s most important meeting of the year, which was to open at Cape Town on October 30.

SOUTH CANTERBURY BEAT WAIRAiRAPA

A speedier and more thrustful sot of backs, well supplied with the ball throughout, enabled South Canterbury Reps to score a 31 to 11 win over Wairarapa on Saturday.
