STATE OFFICE TO GET BUSINESS (Per Press Association —Copyright). AUCKLAND, September. 13. The Auckland Transport Board’s Eire and Fidelity Insurance . will be handled by the State Fire and Accident Insurance Department and not by a private local company. (except reinsurance) as a result of a decision made in committee and announced by the chairman, the Hon Mason, at to-day’s meeting of the Board. : Air J. A. C. Allum strongly protested and moved that the matter be referred back to tfTe committee of the whole hoard. He- said it was a capricious action. “The public are getting a 1 itie tired of this talk of State, State, State, all the time. I hold that, the State should not be given this business simply because it is the State. ’ He added that the .insurance business at present was shared by 39 local cm panics.
Afr H. A. Anderson supported the protest. The Hons Lark and Alasun emphasised the savings which the establishment of tTie State Insurance Office had brought about, jir Allum’s motion was lost.
