(United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright). (Received tins day at 11.40 a.m.) BERLIN, July 14. The composer. Richard Strauss, has resigned the presidency of the Reich Lnamber of Culture, and chairmanship of the Corporation of German composers.
His resignation is officially attributed to age and ill-health, but is believed to be due to the tact that a Jewish author, Stefani Zweig, wrote the libretto for Strauss’ new opera “The Silent Woman.” Strauss publicly praised him.
