Preaching to a congregation that included the Governor, Lord Huntingfleld, at St. Paul’s Cathedral. Canon Grotty declared women were becoming increasingly reluctant to bear sons to be slaughtered in wars tormented to increase the profits of armament manufacturers. “Vested interests are concerned in the perpetuation of war, whereby vast fortunes are made out of the slaughter of innocent people.”
