The search for possible survivors of the earthquake and for the recovery of property has had to be suspended owing to the appalling stencil of decomposing bodies. Quetta is now completely evacuated and it is surrounded by a cordon of troops.
British military, women and children surviovrs are leaving .Karachi by steamer for England. It is officially estimated that thlo earthquake casualties in Kalat State totalled 30,000, of which: 24,000 are dead bringing the death roll in Qitetta and Kalat to 50,000.
