JOURNALISTS’ PAY AGREEMENT

A complete agreement was reached between the Wellington Newspapers’ Proprietors and the Wellington Journalists' Union in the Conciliation Council to-day in respect to wages. A five per cent increase was granted in a majority of cases, the reporters’ and subeditors’ salaries being in line with the rates awarded in the recent agreement (between the Auckland proprietors and journalists. The term of the new award is for one year, and it was made retrospective to April 1.
