REDUCED CHARGES
OF TELEPHONE SERVICE

The Postmaster-General (the Hon. Adam /Hamilton) stated to day that he was pleased to he aide to announce <ha„ a permanent red net iop of 25 per font in the eh arises for the radio tele-, phone service bewteen Xew Zealand and Australia and between New Zealand and the United Kingdom, had been agreed to between the administrations concerned. The reduction is to take eflect as from to-morrow .June 1. Ihe new charges are as under:— Between New Zealand and Australia 15s per minute, with a. minimum of £2 os. Between New Zealand and the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland £1 14s per minute, with a minimum of £5 2s. !he Minister expressed the hope that these permanent reductions, following immediately upon the Jubilee' reduction of of) per cent in the charges for cal is between New Zealand and the United Kingdom during the month of May, would result in the radio telephone service, being availed of to a much greater extent than in the past, and thus bringing about an even closer relationship between these already closely related portions of the Empire.
