FAREWELL SPEECH
THE PRINCE IN AUSTRALIA. (Australian Press Association.) BRISBANE, December 7. The Duke of Gloucester in a, speech at the Rotary Club’s luncheon, gave what’ is .regarded as his farewell message to Austidlia. He said the cordiality of his reception everywhere had exceeded anything he could have expected. Nothing had excited his admiration more than the courage with which th« Australians faced, and were facing, these difficult years. The Duke also .attended functions at the University and at the 'Showground, where children gave a fine display- He left last night to spend the week-end on the north coast. 'Ho embarks f°r New Zealand on 'Mond/ay. The Duke dined last night with the members of the Brisbane Club, and' he also attended an ex-servicemen’s concert at the city hall, and performed a noteworthy task in launching the new Orient liner at Barrow-in-Furness, by pressing a button, which sent a wireless impulse half-way round the j world. Groat cheering marked the action.
