EARTHQUAKE RELIEF FUND

WAIROA, October 13.
.'The Wairoa Earthquake Relief Fund now totals '£1268 18s 9d, including a gift of £SO from Sargood, Bon, and Etwen, Wellington. Up to the present, 2000 broken joints have been located on /ow-pressure water-mains. A start i'S now being made on the overhaul ot the reticulation in the (own area where it is expected the .damage will b c as heavy as on the former occasion. FIFTEEN CHARGES OF THEFT. DUNEDIN, October 14. Ten charges of breaking and oiitorj, n ir, and theft, and five of ordinary jheft wore admitted by Francis <le Basin, aged 18, in the Magistrate’s Court.
The majority of the offences woncommitted a ( cribs at the seaside. 'Accused, who pleaded guilty, was convicted on the summary charge*, and ■sentence was deferred until after he had been dealt with in the Supreme Court.
