HIT AGAINST MOTOR TRADERS

CAPETOWN, August 9
It is reported that the South African Government has decided that criminal proceedings shall be not instituted alter .December, against people disposing of motor cars before they have completed their hire purchase payments on them.
It in pointed out that much of the present depression is due to the people having no money except to pay the instalments for their motors the traders of which it is considered should not have a prior claim over other creditors. Eighty per cent of tlie motor cars are being sold on The hire purchase system. Cabinet Ministers in their recent speeches have given attention to the excessive number of motorists in comparison with income tax payers. The trade regard this action as a tremendous blow.
